A Comparative Investigation of Prevalent Hydrodynamic Modelling Approaches for Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Foundations: A TetraSpar Case Study

چکیده
Numerical models have been used extensively in the design process of TetraSpar floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) foundation to optimize and investigate influence from a number structural environmental conditions. In traditional design, either Morison approach or linear boundary element method (BEM) is applied hydrodynamic loads on structure. The present study investigated compared these two methods evaluated their applicability FOWT concept. Furthermore, hybrid model containing load contributions both approaches was evaluated. This focuses motion response. evaluation, data BEM codes are applied, while commercial software package OrcaFlex utilized for time series simulations coupled investigation highlights difference between modelling importance particularly drag inertia contributions. By optimizing input coefficients, reasonable agreement can be achieved.

Soil–structure reliability of offshore wind turbine monopile foundations
An overview of offshore wind turbine (OWT) foundations is presented, focusing primarily on the monopile foundation. The uncertainty in offshore soil conditions as well as random wind and wave loading is currently treated with a deterministic design procedure, though some standards allow engineers to use a probability-based approach. Laterally loaded monopile foundations are typically designed u...
متن کاملEffect of Platform Surge Motion on the Performance of 5MW NREL Offshore Floating Wind Turbine
In this study, an unsteady aerodynamic simulation is performed to realize the influences of platform surge motion on the aerodynamic performance of a high capacity offshore floating wind turbine. A dynamic model with pitch angle control system is utilized to propose a more realistic model of wind turbine and also achieve the rated condition of the rotor. The transient effect of platform surge m...

متن کاملIndividual Blade Pitch Control of a Floating Offshore Wind Turbine on a Tension Leg Platform
A disturbance accommodating controller (DAC) to reject wind speed perturbations is applied on a 5MW wind turbine mounted on a tension leg platform (TLP). Multi-blade coordinate (MBC) transformation is used to address the periodicity of the floating wind turbine system. A method to apply DAC after applying MBC transformation is developed and several implementation options are presented. Simulati...
